Women & Girls Cricket

Women & Girls Pathway

For the first time ever, Northern Territory (NT) Cricket has entered an NT Team in the Cricket Australia U16 Female National Championships. The Championships took place from 6th to 13th January 2024 in Ballarat, Victoria.

Lead by Head Coach Bronte Stray, following her strong performances as Captain-Coach in the 2024 Desert Rose Cup and ongoing mentorship within the NT Cricket Community, the team claimed a historic first-ever victory. Our NT girls bowled and fielded magnificently against the Tasmanians before chasing down the 131 runs required to win the T20 match with three and a half overs to spare.

The team's success is a key milestone in growing women's cricket in the Northern Territory, inspiring young female players and strengthening pathways for future talent. It fosters greater participation, inclusivity, and development opportunities across all levels of the sport.

This progress is further supported by NT Cricket recently receiving ‘Play Our Way’ funding, part of a $200 million Federal Government initiative aimed at breaking down barriers for women and girls in sport, reducing discrimination and promoting equality.
