Darwin & Districts CC Club Update | February 2025

Hello DDCC Members,

With less than 50 days until the 2025 DDCC season begins, here are key updates and action items to help you prepare.

February Updates

 

🟢  Playing Regulations

Details: Rule changes for 2025 are provided here. Key updates include:

- Two Day Bonus Points for A & B Grades

- Earlier start times for senior cricket (excluding A Grade/Women’s).

- Under 15 Blue to bowl five overs from an end.

- One fielder penalty for slow over rates in one-day matches with an appointed umpire.

🟢  Discipline Review

Details: A review has resulted in the following:  

- Removal of A Grade Mentions

- Updated Code of Behaviour

- Updated Fixed Penalties

🟢  Tribunal Commissioner

Details: A panel will be reinstated to hold tribunal hearings. Expressions of Interest for the role of Tribunal Commissioners are open now.

🟢  Female Interstate Player Program

Details: The EOI form has closed with 22 submissions received.

Action Required: Clubs are encouraged to contact players and negotiate arrangements.

 

🟢  Interstate Players

Details: An interstate player is a player temporarily in Darwin primarily to play cricket. 

Exemptions: 

- Returning Locals: Players who have lived in Darwin for at least three consecutive years and do not hold a professional contract. 

- Primary Purpose Clause: Players who can demonstrate a primary purpose other than playing cricket that extends to the end of the calendar year of the DDCC season. 

- Loyalty Exemption: Players with 30+ A Grade matches for their current club before the season starts. Only one (1) loyalty player per club per season. 

Action Required: Complete the Interstate Player Exemption Form for players requiring assessment.

 

🟢  Team Entries

Details: Team entry confirmations are due by 15th March.

Action Required: Email confirmation to karl.mayne@ntcricket.com.au by the deadline.

 

🟢  PlayHQ Registrations

Details: Continue to promote player, committee, and volunteer registrations.

Action Required: Check the link for a club-by-club comparison as of Monday 17th February.

 

🟢  Umpiring Practical Course

Details: Scheduled for Wednesday 5th March at DXC Arena.

Action Required: Register here.

 

🟢  Community Coaching Course

Details: Scheduled for Sunday 23rd March at DXC Arena.

🟢  Frogbox

Details: Highlight editing has been introduced to adjust the timing of clips appearing on the Play Cricket app. NT Cricket will run the feeds for the T20 Season Launch.

Action Required: Check your kits prior to the season. Review the webinar on how to set up Frogbox.

 

🟢  Certificate of Currency

Details: Clubs must complete the CoC questionnaire to download their new certificate.

🟢 Club Checklist

Details: Check your club is on track with season preparations.

🟢  Cricket Balls

Details: Kookaburra will be the exclusive supplier for DDCC balls with CFS managing all club purchases and distribution.
