January Volunteer of the Month – Rajnish Kanth

Rajnish is not just a founding member of the Alice Tigers Cricket Club; he is a cornerstone of its community, fostering inclusivity and a passion for cricket. His role in promoting both junior and women’s cricket has helped shape the club into a vibrant and inclusive environment.

Rajnish has played a pivotal role in bringing people together from different backgrounds at the club, including many from the local South Asian community, in addition to a growing number of Indigenous women.

Rajnish’s efforts ensure cricket is fun, welcoming and accessible for everyone.

Every Thursday during the cricket season you’ll find Rajnish at Alice Tigers women's games, where he's not just scoring but also coaching and supporting the team. On Fridays, he shifts his focus to junior cricket, coaching the Under-10s and instilling in them a love for the game.

Upon receiving the award, Rajnish shared:

"I am happy to receive this award from NT Cricket and AANT. It encourages me to work for the community even more. Our club, Alice Tigers, is a multicultural club started by the Alice Springs Indian community, and I am proud to be one of the founding members.

This year, I have been working towards the development of women's and juniors' cricket in our club. Most of the Tigers women's team members are Indigenous, and I am proud to contribute to their game."

Northern Territory Cricket & AANT are proud to honour Rajnish Kanth as the Volunteer of the Month for January, celebrating his outstanding commitment and the positive impact he continues to have on the Alice Springs cricket community.

As the January Volunteer of the Month, Rajnish will receive a 12-month Premium AANT Membership and a $250 United fuel voucher.
