NT U17 Team Announced for Cricket Australia National Championships

Northern Territory Cricket has announced its squad for the 2025 Cricket Australia U17 National Championships, set to take place in Launceston, Tasmania, from January 16 to January 23.

This tournament is a key milestone in Cricket Australia’s junior pathway, providing a platform for the country’s most promising young players to showcase their talent and take the next step in their cricketing journey.

The NT U17 squad features a mix of returning and new talent, with several players bringing valuable experience from last year’s U17 Championships. Returning players include Cadell McMahon (Palmerston), Ralph Stephens (Darwin), Matthew St Clair (Southern Districts), Mithuru Perera (Waratah), Dhruv Shandilya (Tracy Village), Rehaan Sundar (Palmerston) and Sam Rumpff (Federal) from Alice Springs. Their previous participation will provide leadership and insight for the squad heading into this year’s competition.

Joining the squad for 2025 are promising Darwin-based talents Noah MacDonald (PINT), Riley Suter (Nightcliff), Harry Dixon (Darwin), Tye Beer (Tracy Village), Charlie Harragon (Darwin) and Arlo Everett (Waratah). The team also welcomes Neel Patel (NSW) as an interstate-based player, who has been called into the squad as a late replacement for Sam Barker (Southern Districts), who has been withdrawn after tearing his meniscus during the training phase. NT Cricket extends its support to Sam during this time as a key part of the Territory’s junior pathway system.

The coaching staff for this year’s team includes Greg Turner as Head Coach, supported by Jesse Dinnie as Assistant Coach and Karl Mayne as Team Manager.

NT Cricket’s Head of Cricket, Nick Winter, expressed excitement about the opportunity the U17 Championships provide.

“This tournament is a fantastic chance for our young players to test themselves against the top junior talent in the country. The squad we’ve selected reflects the hard work and progress being made in the NT cricket pathways. It’s especially great to see players like Dhruv, Cadell, Matt and Ralph returning as leaders for another year, building on their experience and setting an example for the rest of the team”.

“This U17 group has had great learning opportunities this year throughout the Darwin & Districts Cricket Competition, Junior Strike League and Interstate Challenge, so they are well prepared leading into the National Championships to perform strongly”.

The NT U17 team will play its first game on January 16, with the final match of the tournament scheduled for January 23.
