December Volunteer of the Month – Irena Edwards-Kelly

NT Cricket, in partnership with AANT, is delighted to announce that Irena Edwards-Kelly from Tennant Creek has been named December’s ‘AANT Volunteer of the Month.’

Irena is one of the driving forces behind Tennant Creek’s cricket scene, a central figure who has become the first person the community turn to for any cricket related queries or needs.

Irena has also made a significant contribution to the organisation of Tennant Creek’s annual Rossy Williams Shield, as well as the growth and development of the Imparja Cup. Whether it’s assembling teams or troubleshooting last-minute challenges, Irena’s proactive approach to supporting her local cricket community ensures every event runs smoothly.

Irena has become known for her ability to bring everyone together and make sure they have a great experience on and off the field, with her belief that the more people come out to support, the more fun everyone has and that’s what it’s all about.

Reflecting on her motivation, Irena shares that her love for cricket is deeply personal, inspired by her uncle, Ross Williams, who recently became the 10th Life Member of Northern Territory Cricket.

“He started the local competitions and has passed the baton on to me. Volunteering for us is not just about maintaining tradition, it’s about nurturing the spirit of cricket and community that Rossy has cherished for so long,” she explains.

Thanks to Irena’s hard work and passion, cricket in Tennant Creek is more than just a game—it’s a community celebration. Hats off to Irena Edwards-Kelly, a true cricket champion off the field!

As the December Volunteer of the Month, Irena will receive a 12-month Premium AANT Membership and a $250 United fuel voucher.
