Women & Girls Cricket get 'Play Our Way' Boost

Northern Territory Cricket is delighted to announce it has been successful in securing funding for Women & Girls Cricket through the Federal Government’s ‘Play Our Way’ Program.

In 2023 the Australian Government announced $200m towards facilities and participation programs to provide greater opportunities for women and girls to access, participate and remain involved in sport and physical activity.

More than 600 applications were received for the ‘Participation Stream’ of the Play Our Way program with Northern Territory Cricket thrilled to be one of 120 successful applicants.

The $55 million in grants allocated for this stream will fund a wide variety of activity programs, including new or modified equipment suitable for women and girls, across a range of sports with recipients representing local government, community, not-for-profit, and sporting organisations.

NT Cricket will direct the funding towards projects that will remove barriers to women and girls playing cricket, reduce discrimination and promote equality, with plans to create new roles and programs that increase cricket participation and retention among a diverse female population.
