Remote Carnivals are back bigger than ever

Cricket is going to the bush!

NT Cricket are embarking on a trip to take cricket to remote parts of the Northern Territory as part of the 2024/25 Remote Indigenous Carnivals.

From 13 - 20 October, NT Cricket will be visiting several locations in the southwest of the Northern Territory offering local schools and communities the chance to experience cricket like never before with all students receiving a Woolworths Cricket Blast pack and each school receiving a full cricket kit to continue the fun.

This trip will lead to the 2024 Dingo Cup played in Timber Creek from 19 - 20 October.

The journey begins in Lajamanu, 870 kms from Darwin, where students at Lajamanu School will be treated to full day cricket clinic learning new skills and playing games.

The NT Cricket team will then head 113km north to Kalkarindji to continue the school engagement with the students at Kalkarindji School mastering their skills throughout the day before a students v parents v teachers match in the afternoon.

Then it's back on the road to Yarralin, 289km north, where students will enjoy an afternoon of cricket followed by more fun the next morning before the NT Cricket team head to the final stop, Timber Creek.

On Friday 18 October students at Timber Creek and Bulla School will join forces for the 'Pup Cup', which is the Schools Gala Day as part of the 'Dingo Cup' which commences on Saturday 19 October.

The annual Dingo Cup will be the first remote carnival held as part of the 2024/25 remote carnival program which also includes the Barra Cup (Borroloola), Nitmiluk Cup (Katherine) and Rossy Williams Shield (Tennant Creek).

The Dingo Cup, like all remote carnivals, is free and open to anyone to participate, with teams consisting of six players. No prior cricket experience or equipment is required.

It's a fun and inclusive event where all abilities are welcome, making it the perfect opportunities for locals to come together for some social cricket action.

The 2024 reigning champions, and locals, the Timber Creek Bush Turkeys have registered a team to defend their title and our friends from across the WA boarder in Kununurra are interested in making the journey looking to claim the title as they did in 2014.

There is still time to register a team, if you're interest in further information contact Jack Doyle at jack.doyle@ntcricket.com.au or phone 0451 199 393.
