NT Cricket and our proud partners at AANT are delighted to announce that the winner of May’s ‘AANT Volunteer of the Month’ Award is Zac O’Toole of PINT Cricket Club in Darwin.
May AANT Volunteer of the Month: Zac O'Toole
Zac has been volunteering his time to the PINT Cricket Club for the past five years as a coach and volunteer. This season he juggles coaching multiple teams; U15s Blue, U18s, and even a mixed team, ensuring a well-rounded cricket experience for a wider range of players.
Nominated twice for this month’s Award by PINT CC’s Club President, Simon Lavers and Junior Co-ordinator Michael Tregloan; both men could not speak highly enough of Zac and his contribution to the club.
“Zac isn't just a coach, he's the heart and soul of the PINT Cricket Club's junior program” said Club President, Simon Lavers.
“He wasn't just there at the beginning of the junior program, he was the beginning. Through his tireless work building the program from the ground up, Zac created a structured space where young players, boys and girls alike, could learn and love the game. Year after year, Zac has coached countless juniors, dedicating himself to their growth as players and people”.
His dedication goes beyond coaching though; Zac is always willing to umpire, stepping in whenever needed to keep the games running smoothly. Zac puts the club first in everything he does. He's championed inclusivity, creating a welcoming environment for both boys and girls in the sport and the junior program has grown under his guidance, supporting a new generation of junior cricketers. This dedication even inspired his wife to join the women's competition, further strengthening the PINT cricket family.
“The impact of Zac's efforts is undeniable; his dedication and cricket passion are an inspiration,” said Lavers. “He's more than just a coach; he's one of the backbones of cricket in the NT”.
When AANT CEO Simon Matthias met Zac to present him with his award (at the cricket of course!) he was found cooking a BBQ for the players!
Zac was grateful to be acknowledged for the work that he has done and simply said "It's easy to put your hand up and help out when you love it."
"There's no other way I'd spend my time, I love watching the kids play and volunteering with the club allows me to give back and watch the kids play the game we all love".
Zac will receive a 12-month Premium AANT Membership along with a $250 United fuel voucher.
Nominations are now open for June’s AANT Volunteer of the Month. If you would like to nominate a valued volunteer at your club, this month’s nomination form can be found by clicking here.
