Nominations are now open for the 2025 NT Sports Awards, recognizing excellence and celebrating the achievements of athletes, coaches, officials and volunteers across the Territory. This is your chance to honor those who elevate our sporting community and highlight their dedication and impact.
2025 NT Sports Awards Nominations Are Now Open
Cricket has a strong and proud history with the NT Sports Awards, and in 2024, Dr. Bruce Walker AM was inducted into the 'NT Sports Roll of Honour' for his invaluable contributions to the sport. This achievement builds on a legacy of recognition for cricket within the Northern Territory.
In 2023, Jim Ford OAM joined the 'NT Sports Roll of Honour' for his dedication to cricket, while Waratah’s Ash Chandrasinghe was celebrated with the 'Local Performance of the Year' award. Previous winners also include D’Arcy Short who won 'Sportsperson of the Year' in 2019 followed by Kane Richardson who received the award in 2020. Shelly Nitschke took out the top honour in 2011 along with the NT Strike being awarded 'Team of the Year' in the same year and Julie Page awarded the Steve Abala Role Model medal in 2019.

Nominating teams and individuals for the NT Sports Awards is an important way to highlight the remarkable contributions they make to the Territory’s vibrant sports community. It acknowledges the dedication and achievements of athletes, coaches, officials, and volunteers who drive the success and spirit of sport in the region.
Every individual, team, and club involved in sport and recreation across the Northern Territory is eligible for nomination in the following 9 categories:
- Sportsperson of the Year
- Junior Sportsperson of the Year
- Masters Sportsperson of the Year
- Team of the Year
- Coach of the Year
- Official of the Year
- Volunteer of the Year
- Local Performance of the Year
- Karen Schneider Sports Medicine Australia Safer Sport Award

The winners will be announced on Saturday, 29 March 2025, alongside the induction of individuals into the NT Hall of Champions, the NT Roll of Honour, and the awarding of the Steve Abala Role Model – the 'Administrator’s Medal.'
