Indigenous Championships Opportunity

Northern Territory Cricket (NTC) is excited to extend the opportunity for talented male and female indigenous players from across the Territory to represent the NT at the 2024 National Indigenous Cricket Championships (NICC).

The 7th edition of the NICC returns to Alice Springs from 22-27 February 2024, showcasing and celebrating the skills of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cricketers from around the country.

NTC is proud to again be hosting the NICC in Alice Springs, the spiritual home of indigenous cricket in Australia, and NTC would like to invite talented male or female players from the Territory to nominate for the NT Men’s or Women’s Teams.

Darren Treumer, NT Head of Cricket, said the NT had a long, rich and proud history with indigenous cricket.

“The Imparja Cup is entering its 31st year, the NICC has only ever been held in Alice Springs, and we’ve produced some incredible indigenous players like Ken Vowles, Graeme Smith, Peter Lake and D'Arcy Short.

“The challenge for us now is to find and develop that next generation of indigenous cricketer. We’d love any aspiring indigenous male or female cricketers playing up in Darwin or Katherine, or down in Tennant or Alice, to express interest.”

NT Cricket would also like to invite nominations from any male or female who identifies as an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander who would like to coach or act as team manager for the NT Indigenous Teams.

Expression of Interest Form

Expressions of interest close on Friday 22nd December 2023.
