NT Cricket Welcomes Three New Life Members
During the 2024 Annual General Meeting, NT Cricket members voted to accept the nominations put forward by the Board, recognising their sustained contribution of dedicated service to cricket in the Northern Territory.
Clare Martin AO
Clare Martin’s visionary leadership during her tenure as Chief Minister of the Northern Territory was instrumental in the development of TIO Stadium into a first-class cricket venue, including facilitating Darwin's first Test match in 2003. After leaving government, Clare served NT Cricket as a Director for 15 years, including a term as Vice President. She also briefly acted as CEO, implementing key reforms to enhance NT Cricket’s operations. Clare’s dedication and expertise have left an indelible mark, enabling cricket to flourish across the NT.
Shane Franey & Ross Williams
Shane Franey and Ross Williams are the founders and driving forces behind the iconic Imparja Cup, which began in 1994 as a match between Alice Springs and Tennant Creek. Their efforts laid the foundation for the National Indigenous Cricket Championships, positioning NT Cricket as a leader in Indigenous cricket nationwide. Over three decades, their passion and generosity have shaped the Imparja Cup into a national fixture, fostering participation and pathways for Indigenous cricketers at all levels.
NT Cricket would like to extend its heartfelt congratulations to Clare, Shane, and Ross for their remarkable contributions to the game and look forward to opportunities in the near future to present them with their Life Member plaques.
